Goodbyes come so quickly.

Forward Phasers has come to it’s end. Why? Money problems? not really. No one buys anything? we’ve sold out of nearly everything we have ever made. Creative issues? No, we have designs that will never see the light of day, including collabs, (one with a very skilled artist named Kyle Mosher). Legal issues? No, we’re registered within SB county. We are talking with retailers, we have tradeshow invitations, we have definitively made these last 3 months, an interesting one. So why stop? Because, it was never my intention to keep this long term. It was a project. I found the lack of quality internships or jobs with clothing companies cutthroat. I decided to start a brand to teach myself what I was so eager to learn. I met people that I will forever be grateful to meet but also will be friends with them for life. I have learned skills so quick, the urge to adapt, the reality of a business and much more in these 3 months. I have learned to be aggressive from being pan handled in our first days, hell I learned more in these 3 months than what I have learned in college (so far). I have learned that the human soul has amazing fire to fight for anything. (Look at the crew at FP.. those guys are either hardly working or working hard.. but their effort or heart should never be questioned.) I think I never understood the true idea that is streetwear until now, (keep it street, or go commercial.) I’ve done 2 events. One at Riverside, one at the glasshouse in Pomona. Not selling One Tee. We just released beanies that practically sold out in 3 days. I just find it amazing how detailed every footprint is on the road of progression. I like to thank our members. Ques, a dope designer who will be set very soon. Jordan, dude tried hard and can do anything. Keese, set the direction of this company. Keoni, already established in my eyes, Marshall, future is bright and shouldn’t worry about his role in streetwear. Thank you to Michael Long as well, who was a big part of this brand. Thank you most importantly to Dalure aka Daizon, you created the title of this project and have supported me all the way, thanks. Me? I’ll probably move on after tubs of ice cream, tears and season 1 and 2 reruns of How to make it in America… (joking.. not really).  I’ll probably release special projects in the future. it was crazy to see random people wearing this stuff and to know people have heard of us.   Thank you all for supporting,

Namaste.

2012. AND 2013. PART 2.

I’ve decided to mull this over and picked one option for part 2 of people/things that dominate 2012 and to look out for in 2013. You, Besides all of the 2012 new year resolutions that weren’t followed, you did make progress to become better in 2013. Follow up and make this list accurate.

2012. and 2013. Part 1.

The year is finally coming to an end and we’re about to start off the year with the date that all people put off their sober attitudes for drinks to celebrate the start of a sober year(Yeah I know). 2012 had some amazing things, a video that broke you tube view records that might just foreshadow K-Pop’s impact in 2013, and a few other amazing things. (no value in the order of the list)

1. Girls. yes, the show.

girls-hannahs-diary_article_story_main

Has anyone ever seen this? I have never met anyone who has seen the show. All I can tell is that it’s like some sort of early prelude of sex and the city with different characters. Donald Glover (on this list) makes an appearance in the next season and I can’t help but notice Lena Dunham more than the actual characters. All I know is that I will be watching the second season in 2013.

2. Ben Affleck (minus Matt Damon)

ben affleck set 151111The guy who directed Argo seems to have resurfaced in the world with such an incredible movie, breaking off boston street tough stereotypes and Matt Damon. I don’t know if the resounding response to the film was FINALLY, or just pure shock on how good it was. Hopefully in 2013, Ben can actually reconsider directing the live action Justice League movie and prove that he’s an elite director?

3. The realization that How to “Make It In America” won’t come back.

america1-articleLarge

I think we can all agree that this is true. It was an amazing show that reached out to a subculture but attempted to sell itself to the rest of the world. Many people in fashion, street-wear or whatever will tell you that the show doesn’t teach much to the experienced. I knew of pop up shops but I didn’t know Cudi can actually act, Bryan Greenberg is a genius and Lake Bell has a scary face. (in the sexiest way possible), but like many start up projects, CRISP had a great product, just wasn’t at the right time. Hopefully Wahlberg can save this project and let us enjoy the rest of the series. (I guess I never will let go.)

4. Donald Glover, Troy, Childish Gambino.

donald gloverWhat can this guy not do? Drake has been shown off as a triple heavyweight with acting. singing. and rapping.. (he can’t act anymore apparently), but who can do the writing, acting, singing, rapping standup like CG? Anyway, 2012 was the breakout of Childish Gambino and his role Troy on Community. 2013 will see him appearing on girls, a new album and more. Listen to Do or Die by Flux Pavilion for a 2013 sneak peak of his work coming soon. My question is… (Wheres Derrick Comedy or the standup special?)

The (lost) feelings of the Holidays?

As i’m on my laptop writing this, I’ve noticed the most common phrase this holiday season has to be “It doesn’t feel like Christmas”. Ranging from all ages and races, The lost feeling of the holidays just seems to be gone. It may be the now comical threat of the world ending 4 days before Christmas, or one very grumpy cat. Regardless of reason and beliefs, There has to be a solution. Everyone has to be selfless (Yes, even you). Pay for someone’s meal in the drive-thru for the person behind you, make the people around you happy, You’re the product of your environment. BUT, you can change your environment. We’re in an age where we are massively being exposed to worldwide affairs and can communicate many times faster than we used to be able too. We spend time with family on our cell phones and social networks while showing off these material items. In order to make 2013 a better one, carry an attitude heading in that can make it a better one. (You don’t walk into an NBA game and hit a game-winner.) You practice. So practice making your community, family, friends and most importantly, yourself, better.

Happy Holidays – Sheen.

Deux You, Not Them

Why Deux? I found myself at DYNT’s Second Anniversary over at Kore in Montclair. DYNT (Do You Not Them) (Or even Donut) to some of you, has been just hit their second year and is just dominating locally and locations out of state with their new season. I was fortunate enough to know these guys and come by and support, (not that they needed it, they had a great showing at Kore). (No watermark nor editing either, me and photoshop aren’t on good terms today.)

I walked in and instantly ran into Kacey from JLC. We have a surprise for you in the near future.

I also met up with personal brother/friend/Producer and fellow JLC fellow; Daizon, (Dalure). He just released a production tape and tells me to expect something in early 2013.

Here’s young Darnell from DYNT, I usually conversate with this guy about just brands locally, but I used to do business with him (and weez) when I printed my clothing through them. This young cat has an epic future ahead of him.

The owners of it all. From what I’ve gathered, Weez handles the business side of things and Mateo is the creative side. Of course that doesn’t stop the two from inter-fusing here and there. These guys personally, embody what is a cool brand. Cool is something that’s rare to be described by me, as I see too many brands daily to even be impressed, but these guys are just it, cool and bring out great designs that are usually way ahead of the trend.
